[edit] Misinformation Superhighway

Alright, now that we have an article, what should we put in it? That up-coming interview should have some useful info we can reference. I'm too lazy at the moment to write the article, but I can share a few ideas for what could be included:

  • A mention that the main characters are playing charicatures of themselves.
  • They sometimes break the fourth wall.
  • Songs used as theme songs, including the Joppa theme by Andrew Pants.
  • Location(s)
  • Maybe not link to the seperate characters, but make a section for the 4 character bios.
    • Extra characters (i.e. Small British man, Orange Ball, the dogs...)

Any more ideas? --Zach Hammond 00:46, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, I recently adjusted the WSBT numbering to that which is used in the titles, Prologue lacking a number (gave it number 0) and Pirate was 1. but I see you reverted that...
I think a brief (one-two sentence) description of each episode is warranted. - Quolnok 10:37, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Oh, I see what you were doing. I'll change the listing back to the way it was. I also agree with you about a description of each episode, since we have a spoiler warning. Episodes used to have that "In which..." tag next to them. Something like that would be great. I think that much more should also be added to each character bio, too. Once these are done, I'd feel pretty comfortable about unstubbing the article. --Zach Hammond 20:09, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Podcast and WSBT have the "In which..." still, they're up, so do the overall seasons 1-3, we can do our own for those. Quolnok 07:52, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Expanding

I added some info, but there's still not enough general information, which I don't have time to add right now. Things I might include where the show takes place, and definitely add more under the character information.

Also, as far as the music section goes, I just put in songs that I could think of off the top of my head. If you can find more, you should add them. I purposely didn't add some songs, for instance the Young and the Restless theme (Used in Season 2, episode Salmon), because I didn't think it reflected Joppa music taste. This was just my own thought. If you think all songs should be listed, then just say so.

And as far as the episode list goes, I think that more should go into describing each season. For example, I think we should describe how in season one, each episode's beginning question is the last question of the previous episode.

And finally, I think an image would really crispen this article up. Any thoughts?

There's a lot more I could say, but you get the gist. --Zach Hammond 06:22, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

  • image - possibly the tittle screen from season 3, I think it's the only one where they aren't obscured by it.
  • I like the Season 3 title screen, but if you're looking for something else, we could also use the Joppa logo, which you can find on their myspace. --Zach Hammond 20:09, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
  • The Podcast should probably go in there too. - Quolnok 10:37, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Sure. How about mentioning something in the season 3 section about the podcasts, which promo'd the episodes, then add the podcasts in between the episodes?--Zach Hammond 20:09, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What Links Here

Practically nothing. We should locate some relevent pages to link to here. - Quolnok 07:52, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

I've been looking for stuff. But, to go off-topic, I laughed when I found this article. Just title's funny, don't bother with the article. :) --EndlessVince 16:42, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Importance

I guess it's not immediately recognizable as important. However...

  • Joppa was the cover story feature on the weekly east coast publication, The Wire which prints about 8000 copies of the paper per week.
  • According to that article... Who is watching? The “Joppa” Web site counts unique hits, right now measuring about 41,000. This means that if you watch just one episode or all 36, you are only counted once.
  • Nate Corddry has made brief appearances.

A local newspaper talking about some local guys who created a website isn't really a sign of notability. This just plain doesn't meet WP:WEB. IrishGuy talk 02:11, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
It's really not a "local" phenomenon. According to the article: few fans are from Newburyport or the Seacoast. --EndlessVince 01:09, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
I didn't say it was a local phenomenon. What I said was that a local newspaper talking about some local guys who created a website isn't really a sign of notability. And it is a local newspaper. It isn't a sign of notability. IrishGuy talk 14:20, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
I for one am not even in the same hemisphere. - Quolnok 08:46, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Best I can tell, what we are looking for is one or two more "reliable articles" on the topic, yes? I wonder if there are any more journalists out there who are fans... - Quolnok 12:48, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
WhatIsJoppa.com#Press_Coverage - that enough? - Quolnok 12:09, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
If at all possible, include some information in the article from those sources and cite them. I haven't read the other interviews. Got any links? --EndlessVince 02:30, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
They have yet to be published but I have it on good authority (Watts) that the interviews have happened (or in one case, will happen soon). - Quolnok 02:44, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
