In regards to Image:Yekhanurov.jpg you uploaded, you've labeled it public domain, but then said "when citing information available on their site in printed or electronic form, reference to www.razom.org.ua must be provided." The image is from here. I didnt know which 'status' it would have (they seem rather confusing to me), but it is supplied by his political party and also used elsewhere. A plausible alternative would be to classify it PD-UA-exempt, but i dont really know the specifics on that either. Thus, as a cry for help, i decided to just post it and hope that somebody as yourself would pop op automatically to help! :-) And lo, behold! [edit] Warbox

The move strikes me as somewhat of a bad idea, since (almost) nobody knows that WP:WARS even exists, whereas WP:BATTLES actually has some active members. If anything, I think it would be easier to merge WARS into BATTLES (creating, in effect, WikiProject Wars and Battles) which would standardize the entire range of articles (battles, campaigns, wars, etc.).

Having considered it further, I think having a separate project may be the best idea after all. I've created a project notice ({{WikiProjectWars}}), and will be adding it to some articles as soon as I get the chance. Hopefully, this will get us some more activity.

If you check the bottom of the WP:BATTLES page, you'll find that battleboxes originally had a color scheme as well. It was abandoned primarily because (1) the casual reader would have no idea what the colors meant, and (2) pink battleboxes just looked silly. I'm not convinced that the color scheme you found will solve either of these problems. Kirill Lokshin 12:44, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Well, the tagging seems to have failed in bringing in any new members. I'm willing to give it a few more days; if nothing happens, I think we may need to consider merging back into WikiProject Battles and continuing the warbox development there, as there are, at least, some people who comment on that page.

Actually, i'm not so sure we should. You're right, at least they can comment. But we can ask to comment on that page, regardless of whether we move there or not. If we want to implement this warbox-scheme (i think its a great idea), we'll have to do this as a WP anyway.

I mainly tagged articles under Category:Wars and its sub-categories — I probably missed anything too many levels deep, however. The sub-categories definitely need some work.

Also — do we really need {{war-stub}}? Most articles on wars aren't stubs, and the ones that are generally use {{mil-stub}}. In any case, the new stub type would need an associated category (per Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub Sorting); it's also a good idea to add it as a proposal on that page before using it. Phew, man, it seems you cant do anything here which doesnt get noticed by some committee or another! I wanted to talk with you today on the stub (little time yesterday), but i guess it overtook us. I posted my reasons on the WARS talk page, we'll discuss it there.

I agree. The revert war only ended in a truce, but no peace. I am surprised to see little enthousiasm for any mediation effort (and even less actual cooperation), despite having asked for it officially. Funny how people can seem very committed to reverting a certain article, but apparently less so when it comes to inserting comments constructively.
Still, I was hoping your obviously more neutral input would help tip the scale towards a more objective view. If you feel inclined to jump in the fray, youre more than welcome to! The Minister of War 16:12, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
I'm really not much of a fray jumper when it comes to Wikipedia. I see NPOV as more of a mythology than a reality in too many cases. At best, a balance of POVs can be achieved, but only if good will trumps vested interests. I tried to mediate once but only one party (Sam Spade) agreed. I'm not aware of any change to that situation, so I don't see what truly would be gained by my participation. If I saw some constructive movement on the To Do list my outlook might be different. — RDF talk 16:43, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
I'll be honest: I feel very insulted by this. I feel that you've come to the situation with the preconceived notion "It takes two to tango; they must be equally reponsible for a failure to reach consensus" and interpreted everything according to that preconception. On what grounds are you judging that my interest in putting the quality of the article first is not "sincere"? Exactly why does all my willingness to discuss changes and improvements to the article on the talk page count for exactly as much as Sam's refusal to work in the same process? The only thing that I have been asked by a reasonable editor which I have not done is engage in a "mediation" with Sam and the reason I have refused that is that it does me precisely the same wrong that is being done to me here: my efforts to preserve the quality of the article by keeping Sam from stripping out POVs he doesn't agree with and adding pseudoscience about "brainwashing and mind control" are being placed on a par with Sam's POV-pushing. The problem is being looked at as "two editors are having an interpersonal dispute" rather than "one editor is trying to violate key Wikipedia policies and that effort is being resisted by other editors who care about those policies." Indeed. I think the answer to "why now" is because america is kinda going down the toilet as earth's next best thing to superman, and someone else needs to step up to the plate and balance out the world stage. We in the west don't want that to be China, so... E.U. has alot of work to do in becoming a viable military Superpower. Its only a waiting game until someone gets greedy and tries to bully their way into stealing europe's power and opulance. Hi Minister! Days ago you dropped by the talk page of Cenepa War offering yourself as a mediator. The idea wasn't bad, as by the look of things, a flame war was about to start...Well, it did, until it ran its course (gladly). Well, I've been doing some more work on the article, it's somewhat bigger now, and I think the notes and references are coming out ok (your opinion would be great though). The thing is, this is a fairly recent war between Peru and Ecuador (I am Ecuadorian BTW), and it's a proven fact that human emotions cool down much slower than the barrel of a gun. Anyhow, a Peruvian user, HappyApple, dropped by the other day to leave a POV warning, but without mentioning specific sections or sentences. I've been trying to reach him, but he doesn't seem to be terribly enthusiastic about coming in and pointing out some ideas on how to improve the article and delete that warning. Could you take a look at the article, and the talk page, to see if you'd like to mediate or rescue the article, in case HappyApple doesn't show up anymore? [edit] re: Reverting talk pages

The last time it happened, dozens of pages resulted from it. Most of the material in the talk page have nothing to do with the article, which is really sad. I was also responsible of this mess, which I accept the partial blame. It is predicted that had the materials been left there, Thoth would have answered and then the other person, and then Thoth etc., and it would be impossible to delete anything then(because deletion would be the only way to stop that), because to delete you will have to decide where to cut, and either of them will find it unfair that you started deleting from his answer. Since it was early in the discussion, deleting both answers was the best thing in my opinion. [edit] Meatball, and why Voting is Good sometimes

Meatball is a wiki about community processes (now mostly defunct, though), and has created a lot of Words of Wisdom that we use on a daily basis. So while I see few people actually participated in VIG, I'm sure many have read it.

Anyway. These issues have already been discussed (to death, several items) on a variety of pages. The problem with that is that such discussions generally bog down into two opposing factions, both with reasonable arguments, and it is impossible to measure if either side is representative of consensus, or simply a vocal minority. So we should most certainly take this poll seriously. Once we know that (if) a strong majority supports a certain position, we can take it to a proposal page to hammer out the details. If we started out with a proposal instead, there would 1) be substantially less interest, and 2) any opponent could simply state it to be non-consensual.

I disagree with your assertion that "half of the people who count, don't vote, and half of the people who vote, don't count". With the exception of a sockpuppet (whom I take to be an existing user exercising his right to be anonymous), all voters are established and reasonably knowledgeable Wikipedians. And the poll had over five hundred responses in the first day. Radiant_>|< 13:15, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Yeah, it's tricky, but Category:Wikipedia proposals is generally worth keeping an eye on. It's true that voting encourages pileons, it's tempting to scan both sides for people you know and trust and I'm sure it subconsciously influences judgment for many. As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Hi, Thank you very much for your intervention in this issue. There is just a little problem; I have some comments about the introduction and the arguments:

  • Moroccans accept and use the term Western Sahara.
  • If you want to include the comparison with the Flag of Tibet and Flag of Palestine, there should be also the comparison with the flag of ROC (Taiwan). Maybe we should also include that all conflicts aren't similar.
  • We should also include "See Also: WP:NPOV"
  • Morocco does acknowledge the very term "Western Sahara", it's a fact.
  • There is one or 2 of my arguments that you didn't mention: There are exceptions to the naming convention (flag of Taiwan), and "neutrality of WP has priority".

Hi, the wording of the arguments is controversial, for example:

  • Calling this flag Flag of Western Sahara implies that the flag is the rightful flag of the whole territory, which is POV. (you use affirmations in the opponent arguments and you use the conditionnal in my arguments?)
  • Morocco uses the Moroccan flag in Western Sahara, and several other different flags of different Provinces within the area.
  • The term Flag of Western Sahara could not be applied to any other flag. There is no Moroccan version of a flag of Western Sahara, save the Flag of Morocco itself, and the Flags of the Provinces in Moroccan Sahara (this page doesnt yet exist).

Plus, you didn't mention many of the arguments that I used in this talk page. The arguments section is supposed to summarize in a very neutral way all the arguments used by the opponents since many voters won't have the time to read all the page. For example

  1. the "flag of ROC" precedent.
  2. there are exceptions to the naming convention.
  3. neutrality has priority over the naming convention.
  4. this title is POV because it reflects the polisario's POV and is refused by Morocco.

If you don't agree with some of my arguments, it's not a reason to not mention them, by the same way many of the opponent arguments are untrue.

  • You have a point. However, I'd appreciate it if you would refrain from your implications of my partiality on the question. Please WP:AGF - I'm not trying to push the vote in any direction; in fact, I'm just trying to help on a page with which I have no feelings either way.
  • I use the term Moroccan Sahara to reflect the part currently under Moroccan control. I must say I dont see any problem here.
  • I'll change this; I was not implying the flags dont exist, but I assume this would be clear to most readers.
I have tweaked one of the arguments to include some of your points. Points 2, 3 and 4 are minor points within the second argument, and not really arguments unto themselves.
More generally, I have two more comments. First, I do not appreciate the way you imply that I leave out arguments because I do not agree. This is simply not the case. Again, please WP:AGF, and dont assume you know what my opinion on the matter is. Second, please dont comment on every vote in the poll. There has been ample discussion already, and inline comments (especially when improperly bulleted) only confuse the poll. Please dont add more.

Is there another template to use which indicates to readers that there is a dispute over one minor fact ? Agreed that the dispute template gives an impression of major factual inaccuracy, but in the absence of another more appropriate template I am not inclined to remove it - not through any obstanacy on my part, but because then the article is left as it is which I believe to be wrong. So it will stay wrong unless I make my proposed edit again - and so there is a silly edit war. I am not a massively technically aware person, but I would be happy to contribute to the design of a new template that indicates a specific and minor dispute rather than the current "blanket dispute" template. I hope you don't think i'm a horrible jerk now, I thought all of that was common knowledge, and I wanted to try and explain why I thought Phroziac voted that way(Phroziac is currently in a bad state and needs some friends, which the Cabal provides), but I said it in a way that wasn't objective like I wanted, but subjective and insulting, which apparently proves to a point what the cabal has been largely saying -- that I am an inferior person to an extent.

Yeah, I often forget about the face part, since I used to be very poor at recognizing that part anyway. The internet does seem to make it easier to be a bastard...

As for the adminship, ultimately, there are only three reasons I can think of at the present time.

  1. This place for lack of a better term is like a kid to me, I love it, and I want to help others better experience it in anyway I can, and ultimately, adminship gives some of the tools necessary to get the full experience of this place(I still feel like I have phantom limbs)
  2. Whenever I try to explain the political workings of Wikipedia to real life people, especially those in the political sphere(i'm fairly involved as you can probably tell), their average response is somewhere around the perception that Wikipedia is either run by a mental asylum or a clan of rabid monkeys. Sooner or later, reality and our little wiki-world is going to collide, and if that happens with this place being run the way it is, this place will have next to no credibility left afterwards.
  3. With all the idiotic groupthink cabal admins around, don't you think there needs to be somebody around to make sure they don't go out of control?

It'd be nice if I could just ignore it, but hard times call for people who don't want to be in charge of anything(like myself) to eschew that and strive for leadership. Hopefully i'll be able to learn how to do that here, because look at who's "running" the country right now, the real world desperately needs leaders, and I don't see many signing up to try and clean up all those messes. I have given nearly two half days of work on this issu. I really do not want to read protocols for community to take it forward, based on your remark. I'm just learning this tool and its social structure. I'm involved as Karabekirs significant work was reverted by one of the administrators. I believe his work was a significant addition. The reasons are already given at the talk page. I'm sure you can find them, just check my additions. I believe one of administrators took the issues on a personal level (from his words, he is sided on the issue covered at the article, which is fine with me) and tried to get rid of every addition of Karabekirs on the article (which is not fine with me) of Armenian genocide. Hey there,

I can understand you're looking for help - you've stumbled on one of the most controversial articles on the wiki! :-) You should know that the article on the Armenian Genocide is a very VERY disputed topic, and throughout its history has seen a lot of very political an non-neutral editing. You are probably right in saying that some administrators react a bith harshly (though I havent checked or anything), but this is probably because of previous attacks on that particular page. On these kinds of pages we should all try to be as forgiving as we can.

You are right that most of the arguments are listed on the page, but it takes a LOT of time to read through it. For this reason, most wikipedians prefer to be given links which show the edits you mean. This means digging into the history of the article, and then comparing the dit you mean with the one immediately preceding. For example, in this case you probably mean this edit, am I right? These types of links, called 'diffs', make examining a dispute much easier for others. Learning how to use them can save you much time explaining the arguments, and save others time by not needing to read the whole talk page (and it makes the talk page a whole lot easier to read!). Also, as a note in etiquette, you should refrain from using too much CAPITAL LETTERS and too much bold font. It is harder to read, and feels like "shouting" to most people.

I hope you dont mind I'm telling you all these things, but you mentioned you were new, so I thought I'd explain it a bit :-)

About the content: I dont agree with the whole edit (for example, crucial parts of the Ottoman archives are still closed), but I understand your point. I will post something on the talk page, and we'll see what happens. If you still feel uncomfortable with the outcome, the usual recourse is to post a request for comment, though response is usually not high.

The whole thing is very very disappointing. I belive there is a responsibility which falls on administartors on the handling of reversion. The additions we are talking are not vandalism. I spend, on the basis of good will, planty of time to point out that there is something wrong (on administartation) on deleting a significant effort by assigning claims that are questionable. Also all my efford is going to be trashed because I did not used diff. It is very easy to add labels on a very controversial issues, such as this as you pointed. Efforts of this person are all gone, because one of your administartors shouted "liar liar". "liar liar" is controversial. I disagree with him. Assume that he is right on the section that he should "liar liar", how could that extent to whole effort. I can see you have your labels too. So, I'm saying; "How you treat the label is also important". You treated that label getting rid of everything that person contributed. People are not stupid. They can recognize what is right what is wrong. I believe reverted text was much better organized so that these labels can be traced easily. That is what made your administrator crazy and get rid of whole effort. If that thing does not reverted back; it will be a policy decision of the wikipedia, given the fact that your administrator called his friends (do i need to check if they are administrators too?) to vote on reversion in the first place. It will have more meaning than a simple activity of one of your administrators. Your administrator organized this page toward his "worldview" and protecting it as it is, using arguments of NPOV, CITATION, etc. The whole thing is very very disappointing.--OttomanReference 17:03, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

There is no need to take offense to this reversion. Reversions are to be expected in the process of peer editing on Wikipedia. Reversions can be undone, and no single editor has the final say on any article. Now, regarding the reversion, I found the following sentence to be a particularly problematic example of speculation: Currently the country is in the grip of a crisis following the March 2006 Presidential elections. "Crisis" is a strong word. Currently there are only around 700 demonstrators in Minsk. The protest has been dwindling since Sunday. Since then, each evening has seen a progressively smaller gathering -- 5,000 on Monday, 3,000 to 4,000 on Tuesday. The hardcore group spending the whole night outside however rose from 300 to 1,000 on Tuesday. [2] This protest comes nowhere close to the scale of previous protests in the former Communist world that did trigger crises threatening to oust the ruling regime. We do not see evidence that the crowd in Minsk is going to be storming government compounds anytime soon, as was the case when Shevardnadze and Akayev were forced out of power. We see no evidence of a split in the leadership, as we did in 1989 during the Tiananmen crisis. The country does not appear on the verge of civil war, as was the case in Russia in October 1993, when the parliament declared that it would no longer recognize Yeltsin's presidency. The crisis in Russia then came to a climax when Yeltsin brought tanks into the streets of Moscow and blasted his opponents in parliament out of the Russian White House. While it's possible that an unforeseen event stemming from the protest might trigger such a crisis in the coming days in Belarus, that's only a matter of speculation. Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.

Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Military history WikiProject's newsletter! We hope that this new format will help members—especially those who may be unable to keep up with some of the rapid developments that tend to occur—find new groups and programs within the project that they may wish to participate in.

  • Proposed guidelines for categories of military people are currently being discussed. A number of issues have already been resolved, but the proposed scheme is still in draft form and further input would be very welcome.

I'd hope they'd give me some furniture for all the crap i'm going to have to go through in the next few months. What you're saying is true for many parties, for example, Tony Blair is currently the chair of the Labour Party I believe. However, my town doesn't have a mayor, so that wouldn't work. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I don't feel bad about Bormalagurski turning out to be a sockpuppet, because all I said was in good faith. If he used that faith it will only backfire. I fully support the investigation, and maybe we can finally put this behind us. Btw, could you please support my request for investigation on User:Medule on the same page? He seems to have multiple sockpuppets and has been disrupting a lot of Croatia related articles with incessant revert wars, and in my mind poses a much greater annoyance then Bormalagurski... The Barnstar Brigade is a new program aimed at giving more very deserving yet unappreciated users barnstars. It will officially start on 2006-04-09, but signing up is encouraged before this date:
"Here in Wikipedia, there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go un-appreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go un-noticed. Sadly, these editors often leave the project. As Esperanzians, we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. A project the size of Wikipedia has thousands of editors, so there are plenty of people out there who deserve recognition, one just has to find them. The object of this program is not to flood editors with Barnstars, but to seek out people who deserve them, and make them feel appreciated."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.

  3. The current process for accepting proposals for new programs has been deemed fine. All Advisory Council members and the Admin Gen are to endevour to be bold when viewing discussion. If they feel that consensus has been reached, they will act accordingly.

ok, I've put all his uploads there, removed any that were redlinks, some seem to have been deleted but the page is still there, I don't know why. A few of his images I have no real issue with and I've marked them "np" on the list. You can just remove them from the list if you'd like. Some of his images (including clear copyvios) have been moved to the commons, so I guess they'll have to be deleted there. Some he's given a website source (who are almost certainly not the copyright holders), in some he's said "with permission" then tagged it as free. Given his history of dishonesty, I wouldn't take his word for it that permission was gotten, and it's not clear if it's a wp only permission. On one there's a pretty detailed source, and it's free if it's true, but again I simply don't believe him. Matt 18:32, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks so much bro. I really appreciate your good words and well crafted defense (And also the Scotch, though I prefer Irish whiskey...forgive me Leithp, for I hath blasphemed;). But I must call em as I sees em and in my eyes they sure look like Vogons. Not evil, but bad tempered, bureaucratic, officious and callous. Think about it! I really am starting to get disheartened (shows huh?). Now I cringe and wonder "WTF am I being accused of this time!?" :<. What makes it worse, in a weird way, is that my life is going pretty damned well, overall, otherwise at the moment. Tell you how bad it is-Jimbo Wales himself graced my town with a visit the other day, giving an evening speech at the UF Alumni hall. A few months ago, I would have drove over old ladies and babies to attend. But now, I just said "Intercourse it", chatted with some friends and played Rome: Total War instead. Barely gave the matter a 2nd thought. No regrets either. I read in the local paper the next day where he spoke of the "Culture of trust" here, which is so clearly breaking down if not already irreversably broken. Is he really that out of touch with what is going on "down in the trenches"? I can understand a certain amount of denial, especially since it is happening so suddenly, so fast. But silly me, I was always taught that when the ship is suddenly headed for ground, you quickly steer away from it. Thus is the sorry state, of late, of my Wikifaith. (my so-called enemies :) There's User:Jakisa_Tomic that assaulted me by cursing me for propaganda, and in the end he begged me to forgive him for his actions. See through this: 172.158.54.43 is most definately a sockpupper of Hipi. See my User page's history and his contributions for more info. Next, Hipi threw an insult here on your talk page calling you... egm... a stupid f**k, and also me, User:PANONIAN, User:Asterion, User:Litany, User:Academic Challanger and several others stating that the Serbs should die and saying that he will call the NATO to bomb our (and your) parents. --HolyRomanEmperor 17:17, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Just now he called us all stupid at Talk:Kosovo, where he also long ago called us stupid f**ks and said that the Serbs have to die, but an admin deleted his vandalism.

Also, he is much too pushing on that page calling the Serbian Orthodox Church on Kosovo not being Serbian and belonging to Kosova, and not to Serbia; and a bunch of other things that I can't really find; (around 100 times of calling around everyone vandals and Serbian propagators, including you)

I think that this has been really harsh by now. You could also take a look at this edit of his where he conducted Vandalism and deleted from the article anything related to Albanians. The last one's really weird, and I have no idea what's going on. That persicely is what frightened me about him so much.

But are you saying that the references are invalid? That, is where you are wrong. The articles that I have significantly contributed to (and contain referances) are based upon other real works of mine. Take Admiralty House, Sydney and Theory of Portuguese discovery of Australia, for instance. Both are completely based upon works of √αʑʑρεɾ/Jasper Sadubin. On wiki you are meant to reference where your material came from. That is where it cam from. Come up with a good response and you will be eligible for a Jazzter. I never thought of it that way. I only looked at my contribution to Wikipedia, and then I noted how easier it would be to help the WikiProject if I become an admin. The next moment, I was nominated for adminship, so I said "Well, what the heck!" and accepted it. Basicly, I don't have an "obssessed dream" to become an administrator, but I would very much like to contribute Wikipedia in that manner.
But, what really scares me, is that my neutrality has cost me a lot of my Balkan friends. I mean, here I work with them and support them, but on another dispute, I support the opposing side, because it's the most neutral; which is then interpreted as a betrayal. For instance, most of those who opposed me are my buddies in the clean-up of the mess made by a pro-Serb (potential internet troll) editor known as User:Medule. The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
Stressbusters
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.

  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
