[edit] Film template
- You can show templates on a talk page two ways other than transclusion (the usual way of posting with the template name surrounded by {{ }}, i.e. {{Film}}). Using Template:Film as an example:
- [[Template:Film]] which yields Template:Film
- {{tl|Film}} which yields {{Film}}
- Also a category, for example Category:Unassessed film articles, can be shown in two ways:
- [[:Category:Unassessed film articles]] which yields Category:Unassessed film articles
- {{cl|Unassessed film articles}} which yields Cat:Unassessed film articles

[edit] Tender Is the Night
I was never a Fitzgerald fan, but read Tender Is the Night a few years ago for a book club, against my will, under protest. I was surprised at how brilliant the book is. Actually stunned by it. I'll add you to my list of WikiJunkies, subcategory disambiguators, right after subcategory copyeditors, two of my favorite Wikipedians. If I could only find a page mover, now. [edit] Re: Category: List of Ace Books
Hi TheMadBaron, I've been doing some searches as I've gone along, checking to see if I can find the correct article. When I couldn't find it, I'd add (writer) or something else if that article is already taken, though thinking about it now, perhaps I should add (author) instead.
I'm reasonably sure about Peebles. There was one link on the page that did link to his page, and after reading a bit, I had a look at the other Peebles that I'd gone past, noticed that they were all Western novels, so I changed the others.
Working together sounds good! Grey Shadow 00:42, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

- I've been slowly working my way down List of Ace Miscellaneous Letter-Series Single Titles and came across
- D-518 NA Bill Miller and Robert Wade (as Wade Miller) Nightmare Cruise (1961).
- I've dug a bit around on this and found Whit Masterson.
- I changed it to

- But I think it can be done better. Thoughts? Grey Shadow 05:33, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to Novels WikiProject
Hi, and welcome to the Novels WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to fiction books often referred to as "Novels".
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watch it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WikiProject_Novels_announcements}} there.
While you are updating your userpage, don't forget our userbox {{User WikiProject Novels}}. - The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but other methods are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines / template outlines some things to include.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the members, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 08:24, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] How do you add a template to a page?
This may be a newbie question but how is it possible to add a template to a page?
TIA :) Yuser31415 04:26, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- See Help:Template. -- Netsnipe ► 07:45, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Lists
Sorry that this may be a little late, but I just got home. Yes, lists should be tagged and be assessed as List Class (Random Background Story: not to make you feel stupid, I started to NA (non-article) them until another user told me there was a list class! Yay, I was happy... I just had to add it to the template... but now it works... so you can do it).
The syntax is...
{{Film|class=List}}
or
{{FilmsWikiProject|class=List}}
They both put it into Category:List-Class film articles. Cbrown1023 03:36, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Good ol' amg
If you think that my sources are better than yours, maybe it's time to try amg. You voted it down though. Oh well, I guess I will have to copypaste the whole "amg title" template each time. Noticed this Phoenix guy made some magic in the template again, so it displays when it already exists in an infobox. I'll get the production notice off the infobox, by the way. I wish I had time for more, but I have my hands busy with the list by years still.Hoverfish 23:47, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] A Series of Unfortunate Events
Your assumptions are all correct. I will see what time I have got. I'll give it a go if I can. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 09:24, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- might be worth adding that to the membership entry if not already there. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 14:18, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Total Film Magazine article
No, sorry, I don't have the original article. What I was basing it off of was that some entries for the movies on the list had it mentioned what # they were on that list, so I just made the page. A couple of them were missing, I think.
[edit] This is getting silly....
I tried that, and was entirely unsurprised to get absolutely nowhere. I'll now try opposing the policy itself, and taking the matter up with the boss. If that doesn't work, I'll continue to use other ISPs until they get blocked too, and then I guess I'm out of here.... TheMadBaron 06:51, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- In the meantime, have you tried editing via Wikimedia's HTTPS server? That should force a bypass of your proxy. https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Main_Page -- Netsnipe ► 18:52, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks.... I'll try that tomorrow. My current solution is working reasonably well, but painfully slowly at times, and with fairly frequent hoofs.... TheMadBaron 19:00, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Housekeeping
Housekeeping indeed, that's the name of my game today: laying tiles downstairs. I don't have the brains for much more tonight than list work and nighty night, but tomorrow I will take care of what I suggested, and by the way I think the section before the plot should be "Placement"(?). Thank you for motivating me (or making a point on "agregating"), I appreciate it. Hoverfish 21:34, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Enjoy the film. Hoverfish 22:03, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Ahemm...
- The film portal probably shouldn't have anything about our collaboration, because if you look at the bottom, there is a list of like 6 other projects and some of them have their own collaborations (or are currently working on it). Cbrown1023 22:11, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- For the Cin Collab page, we should have a navigation bar, like WP:WPBIO, but you could also put a link to it at the top. Like < Wikipedia:WikiProject Films Cbrown1023 22:11, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rani Mukerjee
Can you tell me why my edit " while her another movie Paheli won the Oscar nomination from India, edging over black" was reverted back in Rni Mukerjee's page? Paheli won the Oscar nomination from India, and this important piece was not even mentioned in the original article. Unsigned comment by User:Balajiviswanathan
[edit] requesting permission to use a message
Hi MadBaron!
I've being enjoying it here although I haven't made any major contributions yet, only fixed typos and warned vandals etc. :)
I'd like to make a 'Welcome' template with similiar text to your welcome message on my talk page. Is this okay? You can find the template here.
Thanks for getting me started!
Yuser31415 talk|contribs 04:23, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your suggestions and letting me use the template! I will consider joining the Welcoming Committee. Yuser31415 talk|contribs 20:31, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The character of Dr. Strangelove
It does seem to be mostly repetitive, and I think it would be appropriate to merge it into the cast section. The less things under the themes heading the better since charges of original research or POV are often leveled on themes of films.--Supernumerary 00:39, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Rebecca Cummings
MadBaron,
You have previously helped with the Rebecca Cummings article. The article has been put up for deletion. I would like your unbiased input on the article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rebecca Cummings.
She may not be the most notable person on Wikipedia but she fits the notability criteria from the Wikipedia guideline Wikipedia:Notability (pornographic actors). Her notability is listed in her article and restated at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rebecca Cummings.
Thanks for your input! --HeartThrobs 22:31, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your suggestion in resolving this matter
Hello MadBaron,
I need your help in resolving this matter. User:Power_level_(Dragon_Ball) is being uncivil on his talk page toward User:Someguy0830. I have added a warning, and he wants me to remove it (User_talk:Yuser31415). Could you please look into this and say what you think? Yuser31415 talk|contribs 20:56, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back :). Maybe I'm being a bit over the top but it annoys me to see other people 'bullying' other Wikipedians. I've removed one warning message before from that user's page, and I see no reason to remove this one.
- On the good side I've joined the Welcoming Committee and have been trying to send welcome messages to all the people on Special:Log/newusers I can ;).
- Best wishes,
- Yuser31415 talk|contribs 22:45, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dr. Strange
1) I was under the impression that we were supposed to place in film in the infoboxes because it is the same as the actual date except more specific. If I am wrong; please tell me.
2) <br> is HTML and <br /> is XHTML. Wikipedia uses XHTML (see also XHTML#Common errors). This usually doesn't matter; but it should still be changed. I changed the style guidelines page to reflect this.
About the Cin Collab: I agree that Dr. Strangelove could become a FA but am torn about the fact that we shouldn't be just repeating the same article over and over again... idk, i'm not sure...
About the user page; ha-ha... I was just nitpicking. Cbrown1023 20:56, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] CineVoter
Just substitutue it when you put on a user page. This means that you post {{subst:CineVoter}} instead of {{CineVoter}}. The act of substituting it preserves the code that was there at the time of placement (the reason it changed, I'm sure you've figured out is you update the template; but this should fix that). This act will cause it to no longer be updated by the template page. Bascially, just substitute it by placing subst: in front of the Template name. Cbrown1023 12:39, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sudden disappearance
I hope the Blues didn't sweep you away. Great job you did in Dr. Strangelove! I learn a lot through following the edits' history. I don't know if it's boldness I miss or style. Lately I tried to create an article on The Favour, the Watch and the Very Big Fish, mostly doing the plot and got tagged for grammar/language. Well, there goes my Cambridge Proficiency. Someone as effective and commited as you has replaced you in the Blues Brothers... Cheers! Hoverfish 12:54, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Nautilus Picture
Hey there! I was just wondering a bit about the nautilus picture you took. It appears to be in a tank; is this nautilus in the posession of a private owner, maybe? Or was it at a public aquarium. Personally I think one of the smaller ones would make an awesome pet, assuming of course it could stay alive in low pressure. Ikkakujyu 03:13, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
