[edit] School article vandalism

I'm not sure what vandalism is occuring. Right now the article has no sources beyond whatever is on the school website. That means that everything else is just personal knowledge or opinion, and is unverifiable by other editors. If information were sourced then other editors could jump in and check to see if edits are correct. For example, how do we know if "The Maverick" actually exists? Is it vandalism to remove a mention to a possibly fictional entity? There's no way to resolve it without sources. As for the more general problem of vandalism, every article on Wikipedia gets it, but school articles get it more often. It's a fact of life. -Will Beback · · 03:05, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Look at the history, all this user does is edit the Publications section of that article. The maverick is actually a student run newspaper that I help run and I think that it deserves to be there if the "offical" newspaper can be there as well. I could link to the website - but it wouldnt be a good source. I'm just asking for your opinion because I dont want to go over the 3RR rule for the guy doing this.

This is directly from this person's edit:

The school is also active in literary arts, in which it has three major school-wide publications, The Maverick,The Augustinian and Santos. The Augustinian, published 5-6 times per year, is the school newspaper. The Maverick is a student-run, student-financed, independent newspaper whose stated mission is to provide an alternative to The Augustinian through terrible quality articles, more ignorant subject matter, and more frequent printing schedules; it is a weekly publication. Santos, published once yearly, features Saints students' artwork of all aspects.

I've gone back and trimmed out some of the material that was the target of vandalism. Perhaps that will reduce its attractiveness to that editor. -Will Beback · · 09:16, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
