This article is about a character in a video game. For the organism see Thermophile.
A Thermophile is a character class in the multiplayer aspect of the video game Conker: Live & Reloaded. They are tall, thin and run slowly, however Thermophiles are still used widely because of the large damage they deal. Thermophiles are portrayed as crazy and pyromanic with unruly fur and broad grins as they burn their enemies. Thermophiles are perfect for engaging groups of enemies in close quarters, especially Sneekers and Long Rangers. They aren't so effective against Demolishers and are vulnerable at range. Thermophiles are also good at taking down enemy armour.
[edit] Equipment/Abilities
- Sinurator - The default weapon for a Thermophile is a flamethrower with 2 modes of fire; Flame (effective against infantry) and Acid (effective against vehicles and barricades). The flamethrower is highly effective at close range with persistent damage (setting enemies on fire) and it can be delt to many enemies at once allowing 1 Thermophile to down a tight group of enemies. However the damage is dealt gradually, and Thermophiles are prone to causing friendly fire.
- Fauster - A laser gun that is highly effective against vehicles and barricades but ineffective against infantry. Not that the laser doesn't kill infantry, but it must be held on the enemy for about 2 seconds (dealing no damage) until they explode, killing them instantly, however this is extremely hard as enemies will do their best to get out of the beam once they see it and pin-point accuracy is required.
- Grenades - Thermophiles carry Incendiary grenades a causing a large patch of slow burning fire and Gas grenades which create a cloud of gas that lingers and chokes anyone in the cloud. They also receive a Fragmentation grenade when upgraded.
- Medgun - The same as with Grunts, Thermophiles can heal allies by standing close to them and "firing" the Medgun at them. It takes approximately 3 seconds to heal an enemy from minimum to full health however both players are exposed to fire in this time.
- Self Heal - Thermophiles can heal themselves, once activated they will heal slowly until they are shot or have full health. The Self Heal must take time to refill until it can be used again.
[edit] Vehicles/Specialist Ordinance
- Dragon Mk. IV - Identical to the Grunt's Toad Mk. II except the machine gun is replaced with a flamethrower. The Dragon is quite fast, manouvrable and well armoured providing ideal transport for infantry.
- Earth Guard - An automatic turret armed with a machine gun. The Earth Guard targets enemies within a short range and kills them quickly however it is easily fooled by multiple enemies when attacked from 2 sides. It can be temporarily disabled with an EMP grenade or destroyed with fire.
- Mines - 2 Mines are available to upgraded Thermophiles. They are typically placed near choke points to trap enemies. Mines are far more effective against vehicles because foot soldiers can get between them, though they are deadly to both. Mines are invisible to enemies and are not set off by allies, however an EMP grenade will trigger them to explode effectively clearing the mine field.
