Thermal hysteresis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thermal hysteresis. In reference to antifreeze proteins, refers to an observed difference in the melting and freezing point of ice in an aqueous solution. This effect can be observed in a solution using either the Freezing point capillary method or a freezing point osmometer.
Thermal hysteresis is also sometimes referred to as antifreeze activity. Thermal hysteresis(TH) is calculated by subtracting the freezing point(FP) from the melting point(MP) of a solution.
