Theocracy is a Christian Progressive Power Metal band founded in 2002 by Matt Smith of Athens, Georgia. All instruments and vocals done on the debut album Theocracy were done by Smith. The current lineup includes Smith along with Shawn Benson, Josh Sloan, and Jonathan Hinds. The bands mixes the power metal style of Helloween with progressive influences from bands such as Dream Theater, Kansas and Rush.
Recently, the group recently played at the ProgPower USA VII festival Pre-Party in Atlanta, Georgia. The band is currently in studio recording the follow up to their 2003 self titled debut. The new album is scheduled to be finished by the end of December, 2006.
