thenewno2 is a band formed by Dhani Harrison and Oliver Hecks. Harrison plays lead guitar, synthesizer, and vocals. Hecks plays drums and synthesizer. Jawnee Burkes and Holland Greco also make contributions. Amanda Butterworth sings female vocals. The name thenewno2 is a reference to a British televison show from the 1960's called The Prisoner starring Patrick McGoohan which was a favourite show of Dhani's father George (the lead guitarist of the popular British rock band The Beatles).
The band's website features several songs and a video entitled "Choose What You're Watching". The website says the band is "currently rehearsing" and there's "more to come". thenewno2 has yet to release a full album. On July 6, 2006, the website stated that thenewno2 will be releasing a 4 track promotional EP, though as of seemingly, such an album did not appear. On September 21, 2006, it was announced on a MySpace bulletin that spare copies of this EP would be available over the next few weeks. A bulletin on YouTube, dated October 26, 2006, apologized for the delay in the release of the EP and the updating of the website, and announced that the EP was now on sale at RecordStore.co.uk. [2]
thenewno2 were also credited with the Art direction and photography on the George Harrison's posthumous album, Brainwashed.
