[edit] Special Sections

Throughout the year, The Accolade will produce special sections devoted to holidays, sports teams, and other special events.

  • The Senior Section is a massive section appended to the last paper of the year which contains information regarding where senior level students are attending college.
  • The April Fools Section is a parody section that is attached to the April edition of The Accolade.

[edit] History

  • Originally, The Accolade was designated to be named The Excalibur to keep with the Centennial High School mascot, the Knight; however, after much discussion it was decided that The Accolade served as a better representation of what the paper hoped to accomplish: recognizing student achievement within the school.
  • The Accolade masthead has not changed since it was originally created in 1997.
  • Starting with Volume III in 1999, The Accolade started creating multi-section editions where each four or eight page section was self-contained, much like many large papers.

[edit] Awards

The Accolade submits award bids yearly to the Georgia Scholastic Press Association.
