The World is a cruise ship (although referred to as a residential community by her owners) managed by ResidenSea [1] and owned by her occupants. She is known primarily for the fact that she has actual apartments on board that can be rented or purchased.
[edit] Statistics
The World has a Bahamas flag, a gross tonnage of 43,524 tons. The vessel is 644 feet long, 98 feet wide, and has a 22 foot draft, 12 decks, and a maximum speed of 18.5 knots. The crew complement is 250.
The ship possesses 165 residences (106 apartments, 19 studio apartments, and 40 studios). These range in price from $750,000 to $3.6 million (not including annual maintenance fees), or can be rented for a minimum of $600 per guest suite per night. The ship carries between 150 and 400 passengers and guests. As of June 2006, 100 percent of the residences have been sold.
[edit] Facilities
The World has many things that a regular cruise ship would have. Her amenities include a jewelery store, a "World Boutique", and other shops, along with a virtual golf course, a tennis court, a jogging track, an internet café, a casino, and several restaurants.
