Nita and Kit start to fight about the solution to the pollution in Jone's Inlet. Nita starts to work on her own for a while. Then Nita's mother falls ill. She is taken to the hospital with a brain tumour. Will anything, even wizardry, be able to save her? Nita starts to practice with kernels in the practice universes, the only way to keep her mom alive. Will she be able to, or will she have to accept the Lone One's offer...?
