The White Cliffs of Dover (1944 film)

The White Cliffs of Dover is a 1944 film made by Loew's and MGM. It was directed by Clarence Brown and produced by Clarence Brown and Sidney Franklin. The screenplay was by Claudine West, Jan Lustig and George Froeschel, based on the Alice Duer Miller poem entitled The White Cliffs with additional poetry by Robert Nathan.

It tells the story of an American girl who travels abroad to England and falls in love with an aristocrat. Starring Irene Dunne, Alan Marshal, Roddy McDowall, Frank Morgan, Van Johnson, C. Aubrey Smith, Gladys Cooper, Peter Lawford, Dame May Whitty, and Elizabeth Taylor, the film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Cinematography in Black and White.
