[edit] History
[edit] Getting signed
The band is largely indebted to two bands: the Supertones and Bleach. The Supertones brought the Wedding on their first real tour when they invited them to join the SuperTour alongside the Supertones and Superchic[k]. Bleach was largely responsible for getting the band signed. Bleach Guitarist Sam Barnhart brought the band to Dark Horse Studios to record a demo. The Wedding recorded the demo with Sam and Mark Townsend. The demo became the band's Tour EP. Townsend was so impressed with what he heard that he signed the band to BHT entertainment's alternative division, Rambler Records, headed by music industry veterans Dan Harrell and Michael Blanton (Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Relient K).
[edit] Self-Titled debut album
The original four-piece went into the studio to record their Rambler Records debut with Mark Lee Townsend (Relient K, dc Talk, Jennifer Knapp). The album was cut in Dark Horse Studios in Tennessee. The band entered the studio without having chosen a name for the band. They had decided to drop the name Easier Said, but they tossed around several names including: Rushmore and Causewell. Their name 'The Wedding' was inspired by the book of Revelation from the Bible. The release of the album was originally slated for February of 2005, but was pushed back to April. The Wedding had a successful 2005 with two number 1 singles on national Christian rock radio ("Move This City" with four consecutive weeks at No. 1 and "Song For The Broken" for two weeks at No. 1). Single, "Wake The Regiment," also neared the chart's top 10.
[edit] Rumble in the South EP
Just a month after the release of their debut album The Wedding returned to Dark Horse Studios to record some new songs. The EP consists of 3 new songs and 2 acoustic versions of hits from their Self-titled Debut. In late October of 2005, the Rumble in the South EP was released, while the band was on the Falling Up tour. October 2006, the band again returned to the studio to record their 2nd full length album. It is expected to be released April 4, 2007.
[edit] Lineup changes
In June 2006, Drummer Clint Robinson left the band to pursue other endeavours. Upon departure of Clint, the band made changes. Jeremy Ervin, who had been touring with the band for awhile beforehand, was officially made a band member. With Ervin or "Beans" playing bass, Cody Driggers moved over to guitar giving the band a second guitar player. Joe Rickard replaced Clint on the drums after his band Sky Harbor called it quits.
