The Very Best Of The Stone Roses is a compilation album issued by Silvertone Records in 2002. It features most of the Roses' singles, and album tracks Breaking into Heaven and This is the One. It charted at number 19 in the UK, and spent nine weeks in the Top 75.

The company has been much maligned for supposedly cashing in on their famous band. However The Very Best Of... is a more comprehensive compilation in that it gathers all the Stone Roses' best known tracks, in their versions generally seen as best formats. A Previous compilation The Complete Stone Roses had been critised for not including material from the groups second album, whilst including inferior edits and alternative versions of the groups output.

Not only does the compilation contain six songs from their debut but the album is structured to open and close with the same songs in their album versions.

[edit] Notes

1 This is the 12" version sometimes referred to as "Fool's Gold 9.53"
2 This is the 12" Peter Hook produced version, not the 3 minute version which was additionally mixed by John Leckie.
3 This is a new edit of the album version, it omits the lengthy build up.
4 This is the 7" version of the single.
