The Valves

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Valves were one of the early punk groups from Edinburgh in Scotland. The band, who are cronicled in Henrik Poulsen's book 77: The Year of Punk and New Wave, featured Dave Robertson as Dee Robot on vocals and Gordon Dair as Pada Valve on drums, and released a number of records on Fast Records.

The Valves is also the name of classic rock band from the north east of England, who are comparatively better than the first band to bear their name.

One of Wikipedia’s founders, Larry Sanger, says he plans to rewrite it — as Citizendium, a “citizens’ compendium”. To succeed, he will probably need to attract many of the people who contribute, or used to contribute, to Wikipedia. But whether the “new Wikipedia” will avoid the problems of the old one, or just create new ones of its own, remains to be seen.
