The Truth Behind Truths (Japanese: 「真実の奥の奥」 - Shinjitsu no oku no oku) is episode 19 of the Fullmetal Alchemist TV series originally aired 2004-02-14.
[edit] Plot
Working from the horrifying realization from Marcoh's notes that a key ingredient for making a Philosopher's Stone is human lives, Ed deduces that the state military's research on the stone must have been at Laboratory 5, which is located right next door to a prison. 2nd Lt. Ross and Sgt Brosh, the bodyguards Ed and Al acquired in the previous episode, ask the brothers to wait while they check out Lab 5, but of course Ed won't stay put. Al stands guard outside while Ed sneaks in via an air duct, encountering several Indiana Jones-style booby traps. Scar breaks into Ed and Al's quarters and sees the map the Elrics were studying and realizes where they have gone. Ed and Al each find themselves confronted by one of the laboratory's unusual guards--souls attached to armor, just like Al.
