The show is co-hosted by Fred Toucher and Rich Shertenlieb, and also features Chris "Crash" Clark (sports and news) and Adolfo Gonzalez, Jr. (assistant producer) as regular, on-air radio personalities. Toucher, Rich, and Crash all met while working together at Atlanta's 99X. Later, Rich met Adolfo while he was working on Kidd Kraddick in the Morning in Dallas, Texas.

Examples of some of their more memorable bits include:

  • Drunken Red Sox/Patriots/Celtics Recap. Show staff frequently stand outside Fenway Park, Gillette Stadium, or the TD Banknorth Garden following a game and interview the drunkest fans they can find about the game. The results are played on the air and the most amusing comments are recorded and often played over and over again on successive shows. For example, an extremely intoxicated Boston Red Sox fan, known as "the Chili Guy", provided the show with its often-used sound clip "couple of beers... no beers... chili." More recently, a drunken fan outside a Celtics game made two frequently played sound clips: "Recap, recap, recap them boobies!" and "don't forget the Heineken, it's always made out of green!"
  • Reality Check Girls. Female listeners are encouraged to email photos of themselves to the show, and self-rate their appearance on a scale from 1 to 10. Show staff then visit local bars and clubs with the photos, and ask random strangers to rate the listener's appearance. The listener will then win a prize if her guess is close enough to what random people on the street rate her appearance at.
  • Rich Goes To The Movies, also known as Rich's Musical Movie Review, where Rich reviews a movie while singing to the theme of Magnum P.I.
  • What The Hell Is Adolfo Doing? A game where Adolfo is taped doing something (usually something humiliating), and the listeners are asked to call in and guess what the activity is. The caller who guesses correctly wins a cash prize.
  • Adolfo's Physical Fitness Video Game Review. Adolfo reviews a new video game while doing some type of exercise. For example, he has run on a treadmill, tried to do pushups and situps, and tried to skateboard and jump hurdles.
  • Fun With A Hidden Mic. Rich or Adolfo go into a business of some sort and do ridiculous things. For example, Adolfo went into a female gym and tried to apply for a membership.
  • Adolfo Gonzalez, Cowboy Lawyer, where Adolfo settles a dispute between two of the people on the show in the sanctity of Tard Court.

Many gags have focused on Toucher and Rich trying to find Adolfo a girlfriend, allowing him to interview celebrities in his typical tongue-tied fashion, and simply handing the mike to him and allowing him to spout off nonsense for several minutes. Nearly every bit has a theme song written and sung on the spot by Adolfo. The staff also spends considerable time teasing Adolfo for his overweight appearance, apparent naivete, and limited vocabulary and spelling ability.

The show is produced by "B-Real" (not to be confused with the Cypress Hill rapper B-Real). He is known for wearing sleeveless shirts.

On November 2, 2006, the show received an email from a listener who had searched for "Mantown" on Wikipedia. The listener found that Mantown, in addition to being a fan club to rival station WAAF's "Hillman Morning Show", was also a communal society of single, homosexual men who wish to remain bachelors but who also seek the gratification of raising children.

However, because of the fact that the page had previously been victim to vandalism, resulting in the word "homosexual" being switched to "heterosexual", 'Toucher and Rich' listeners began to edit the WAAF article in the areas concerning "The Hillman Morning Show" with humor that could be described as unnecesary. After a Wikipedia contributor removed the vandalism, Toucher and Rich fans, known as TARDS, proceeded to edit the page numerous times to make it seem overtly homosexual. The vandalism included pictures of The Village People, Gay Pride Parades, Richard Simmons and The Fab Five, with captions claiming the pictures were of "The Hillman Morning Show" cast. The WAAF entry also got filled with many inside jokes from the show, and Toucher and Rich would read page updates live on the air. Editing stopped when the page was locked.

The 'Toucher and Rich' cast began to criticize competitor WAAF soon after taking over WBCN's afternoon drive show in June 2006. The cast and crew of 'Toucher and Rich' decry the whole 'Mantown' concept. They claim the Hillman's Mantown theme is false machismo masking repressed homoeroticism on the part of the "The Hillman Morning Show" cast and crew .
