[edit] French Open from 2007
The Tennis Channel scored a serious coup in August 2006, when it was announced they had procured the cable television rights, for the French Open beginning in 2007. These rights were previously held by ESPN2 and prior to that, USA Network. Tennis fans and likely The Tennis Channel itself will be hoping that such a prestigious event will encourage more cable operators and satellite providers to offer the small, yet growing, speciality channel.
