The Tempest is the upcoming album by the hardcore hip hop group Insane Clown Posse. It was preceded by The Calm, which includes a direct mention of The Tempest on the opening track. According to that song, the titular Tempest is an incredibly destructive storm that will lay waste to the world. ICP has said that, since the Joker Card saga has ended, they want to take the group in a new direction. Therefore, they say, this album will be completely different from anything that they have done previously. Very little else is known about the album at this time except that it will be produced by ICP's former producer Mike E. Clark. Clark parted ways with the group in 2000, and his return has proven tremendously exciting for their fan base.
The release date was originally listed simply as "2006." The release date, September 19, 2006, was revealed in the liner notes of Shaggy 2 Dope's solo album, Fuck the Fuck Off. On August 31, 2006 Insane Clown Posse released news that The Tempest will be delayed a "couple" of months. No specific date has yet been released. Recently, on The Howard Stern Show, Violent J said that an album will be coming up in Feburary. [citation needed] It is possible this is an entirely new album, because ICP have since announced that The Tempest will be released March 20 2007.[citation needed]
