The Technopriests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Technopriests is a science fiction comic by Alexandro Jodorowsky, Zoran Janjetov and Fred Beltran. It takes place in a very distant future, with highly advanced technology and computers and huge and sometimes terrifying virtual worlds. Humans however haven't changed at all, and are still ruled by greed, violence and the hunger for power.

The story is written as the memoires of the main character, Albino. He is the son of Panepha, a former high priestess. When she was raped by a band of pirates she lost her status as high priestess because she was no longer a virgin. She gave birth to three children: Almagro, Albino and Onyx. Almagro is spoiled like a prince but Albino and Onyx have to work as slaves for their mother.

Albino's dream is to become a game developer for the Technoguild. He convinces his mother to send him to a school so he can learn to create games. His enthousiasm soon turns into disappointment when he finds out the true purpose of the Technoguild is not to create high quality games but to keep people poor and stupid so they will buy more games.

After Albino left his mother, she starts her own crusade to take revenge on the pirates who raped her. Having saved huge amounts of money, she buys a space ship, hires a crew and takes off. She will, however, soon meet some very unpleasant surprises.
