[edit] Song
The System Is Down is a techno song that is featured in a Strong Bad Email flash called techno, one of the cartoons in the Strong Bad Email series on homestarrunner.com. The cartoon shows Strong Bad replying to an email questioning him if he "like[s] techno at all". Strong Bad's reply can be seen as a parody of techno music, as he describes the music as consisting of two beats, a high pitched noise, and an old science fiction movie quote (in this case, the quote is "the system is down", thus the name). The video concludes with The Cheat throwing a "light-switch rave", before he is told to stop by Strong Bad. The song is also included on Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits.

[edit] Cartoon
The System is Down is also the name of a cartoon short on homestarrunner.com. It parodies the Internet Explorer "The page cannot be displayed" error. In the cartoon, the whole website is down, and Homestar wants to know what's going on, Strong Bad says that the site's best people are on the job (which is apparently Bubs). Bubs tells them that someone tried to cram a Swiss cake roll into the hard drive, pointing all suspicions to Strong Bad. This toon was made when the site was hosted on Yahoo!'s server, when too many fans visited the site, the server crashed. The site is now in a separate website, although the official store is still hosted on Yahoo!.
