[edit] Styles and influence

The Sword combines heavy metal, hard rock and elements of psychedelic rock, stoner metal and doom metal within the four-member band. Blending styles similar to bands such as Wolfmother, Witchcraft, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Kyuss, Nebula and Fu Manchu. The Sword are building popularity based largely on the recent uproar of metal and neo-psychedelic bands. One of the things that sets The Sword aside from other metal bands is their use of rock drums, instead of metal drums. The drumming lacks the double-bass, and is played on a minimalist set. Also, the poetic lyrics contain vivid imagery of mythic subject matter giving The Sword an original sound.

[edit] Quotes

"I'd call it Black Sabbath Vol 4., or the old days of Prong, kind of like Iron Maiden...like a bunch of bison being pushed over a cliff."- Spin magazine.

"The four Swordsmen are stealth assailants, mutating from sludgy to melodic so discreetly it leaves a bruise. Brain-melting guitar licks…bass and drums like meteors…heavy." - Austin Chronicle
