The Spirit Room is the second album and first major label release by singer-songwriter Michelle Branch, released by Maverick Records in the United States on August 14, 2001 (see 2001 in music). In January 2002 the RIAA certified The Spirit Room gold for shipments of over 500,000 copies in the U.S.,[1] and the following May the album was certified platinum for shipping over one million copies.[2] By June 2003, it had sold 1.8 million copies.[3]
It produced three U.S. top forty hits: "Everywhere", "All You Wanted", and "Goodbye to You". There was speculation that "Everywhere" was about God or a stalker, but Branch said the song wasn't about either of those things.[citation needed]
The Spirit Room has been certified gold in Canada, selling 50,000 copies by the end of October 2003. [4]
