The Slickee Boys
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Slickee Boys were a Washington, D.C.-area psychedelic / garage rock / punk band, led by Kim Kane, Mark Noone, and Marshall Keith. The band has become underground legends in the D.C. punk community. They were known for their wild costumes and graphics.
The Slickee Boys are the best band ever to come out of the Washington D.C. area in the 1980's. They created the best party music and slam dancing great fun. No one ever left a Slickee Boys concert without having had a great time, getting sloppy drunk, meeting a chick, or at least with aching ears.
If you missed them - no worries. They are still alive, doing well, and yes - they do still play several times a year. They usually play two reunion shows Christmas week in Arlington and Baltimore. In 2006, the Arlington show will be at Iota (as it was in 2005) on Friday, December 29. The Baltimore show will be at Ottobar on the following night, Saturday, December 30.
Live favorites included "The Brain that Refused to Die", "When I go to the Beach", "Here to Stay", and a rave-up cover of "Pictures of Matchstick Men".
For encores they would often switch instruments and play covers such as Alice Cooper's "Eighteen" or Herman's Hermits' "Henry the Eighth".
After a temporary split, the band has reunited and found a significant following in Germany and France.
The Slickee Boys' alter ego was a rockabilly band called the Wanktones.
More information about the Slickee Boys can be found at their MySpace entry, started in June 2006. [1]
