The Shaolin Drunken Monk
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Shaolin Drunken Monk is a martial arts movie.
The film is mostly considered a flop including a unfit title and less than average acting. Gordon never learns kung fu from Shaolin or a monk, and the Drunken Kung Fu he does learn he uses rarely. This does not dismiss the fight choreography how ever, the mainland martial artists are well equipped and the fights are some what intriguing and rival some of his best. The style of choreography is not the classic Liu seen in "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" it mirrors more of the Yuen Woo Ping style which is more acrobatic utilizing circulating characters instead of linear movements found in most of Liu's classics. The plot is like most at the time were a character fights for revenge. If one dismisses the plot and the shoddy camera work/lighting and watches it for its fight sequences it is some what enjoyable.
