The Shadowthrone is an album by the Norwegian black metal band Satyricon.
Considered a classic by fans of Black Metal, The Shadowthrone is also regarded by many as Satyricon's finest album. Like many Black Metal albums of the period, the songs revolve around either a theme of driving Christianity from Norway or aspects of Scandinavian mythology. In both cases, The Shadowthrone executes these elements so well that it is essentially a must-have in any Black Metal collection. At the time, the use of keyboards was not widespread in the genre, nor was the use of choirs, which are used to a great effect on Hvite Krists Død and Vikingland.
