"Secret of the Fire Nation, Part 1" is an episode from the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender, which airs on Nickelodeon. It is the twelfth episode of the second season of the series.

The Gang travels through Serpent's Pass to help a family of refugees into Ba Sing Se.

The commercial for this episode first aired on July 14, 2006.
The snake creature that appeared in the very first Avatar teaser trailer finally makes its appearance in this episode.
According to the trailer shown at Comic-Con 2006, characters Jet from the episode "Jet" and Suki from "The Warriors of Kyoshi" will be making returning appearances.
Azula's team returns in this episode.
The pregnant woman, first seen on "Zuko Alone" appears in this episode.
Jet invites Zuko to join the freedom fighters.
Sokka breaks the fourth wall when he screams "I think I just figured out why they call it the Serpent's Pass!," after the Serpent arises from the water. Though he was supposedly referring to the path they were traveling on, it is also the title of the chapter.
