"The Samurai Called Jack" is the second episode of Samurai Jack's first season. It was shown as a feature length episode with "The Beginning" before it and "The First Fight" after it, which was then released as "Samurai Jack: The Premiere Movie". The episode aired on August 29, 2001.

At the start of the episode Jack is thrown into a portal by Aku. He find's himself in a world in the distant future shaped by years of Aku's evil reign. He meets three guys who are impressed by his athletic abilities and fighting skills and subsequently name him Jack. Jack then befriends some talking archeologist dogs and hears of their plight working for Aku. He vows to help the dogs gain their freedom from a life of enslaved jewel mining.

• The dogs in are mining the remains of the City of Townsville which is where the Powerpuff Girls live. A billboard in the background shows a picture of the Talking Dog which was in an episode of the Powerpuff Girls.
• One of the canine archaeologists is Big Dog from 2 Stupid Dogs.
