The Sacramento Ballet
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sacramento Ballet was founded in 1954 by Barbara Crockett and Deane Crockett in Sacramento, California, USA.
Throughout the years, the Sacramento Ballet has received support from the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission (SMAC), California Arts Council (CAC), and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
In 1986, having accomplished her goal of making The Sacramento Ballet a professional dance company, Barbara Crockett retired as the company director.
In 1988 Ron Cunningham became the new artistic director, and was joined by his wife Carinne Binda the following year. The two became co-artistic directors in 1991.
The official dance school of the Sacramento Ballet remains the Deane Dance Center which was founded by the same Deane Crockett who co-founded the Sacramento Ballet.
