The SWORD Project is a project from the CrossWire Bible Society, with the purpose of creating cross-platform open source software for the study of the Bible, covered by the GNU General Public License. This software can be used by other software, working as an API.

As a part of the project, there is a collection of over 200 texts in over 50 languages. Any software based on The SWORD Project can use this collection of content.

The SWORD project is included in many Linux distributions, including Debian and Gentoo and is included in FreeBSD. It serves as the core for other software, including BibleTime and GnomeSword.
