The Rewinding Town (Japanese: 巻き戻しの街, - Makimodoshi no machi) is the ninth episode of the anime series D.Gray-man.

A woman named Miranda checks her newspaper one morning and notices unhappily that it is October 28th - for the 30th time in a row. During this time, Komui informs Allen and Lenalee about a town in which time repeats itself and that no outsiders can enter it. Thinking an Innocence is involved, Komui orders the two exorcists to investigate since he believes their Innocence will allow them to be inside the town. However, the Head Officier warns them that they may not be able to leave. Once Allen and Lenalee arrive at the outskirts of town, they meet up with Toma, who tells them that he and the other Finders cannot enter the town due to a barrier blocking their way. Deciding to try Komui's hypothesis out, the two exorcists are able to go through the barrier and enter the town. The two then decide to split up so they can cover more ground and to have a local tavern as the meeting place. During this time, Miranda, who is walking around town, is depressed that it is October 28th for the 31st time and that she experiences the same events like earlier. However, as she is walking down an alley, an Akuma attacks her, demanding the location of the Innocence. Luckily for Miranda, Allen is there to battle Akuma. While the exorcist and the Akuma fight, Miranda escapes with joy because something different (Allen's appearance) occurs today.

After searching for Miranda for a while, Allen meets with Lenalee at the tavern and tells her what happened. Lenalee then mentions how she tries to leave the town but discovers that she cannot. She concludes that the only way they can leave the town is if they find the Innocence. Suddenly, Allen notices Miranda's spying on them. She introduces herself to the two exorcists and explains her circumstance. Allen interrupts her when he detects some Akuma in the area. He and Lenalee activate their anti-Akuma weapons and engage them in battle. Since Miranda is still in the area, Allen asks Lenalee to bring her to a safer location. With Miranda out of danger, he immediately attacks the remaining Akuma at once. Meanwhile, Toma notices a girl (one of the Earl's mysterious guests) entering the town with an aid of an umbrella (Lero). Back to the battle, Allen is having trouble with the Akuma when suddenly the strange girl orders them to stop. The girl, Road Kamelot, reminds the Akuma that they suppose to retrieve the Innocence and to return. Obeying her orders, the Akuma leave a very confused Allen behind. When Lenalee comes back to check on Allen, he tells her about hearing a voice and the Akuma's strange departure. In a different part of town, Road scolds the Akuma for "playing" without her permission; however, she is eager to fight the "cursed one."
