The Reunion Show
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Reunion Show was a pop band formed on Long Island, New York in early 2000. Brian Diaz, formerly of Edna's Goldfish, began writing and rehearsing with friends Mark Thomas Kluepfel and David "Skully" Sullivan-Kaplan. Derrick Sherman joined shortly thereafter and the band began performing as The Reunion Show. Playing underground shows at small venues across the United States, the band began to build a national fanbase. In 2001, the band began selling copies of their six song demo, which eventually was eventually released as the EP 'The Motion' by Law of Inertia in 2002.
Friends and fellow Long Islanders Taking Back Sunday tipped their record label, Victory Records, to sign The Reunion Show. After being impressed at a Long Island show, Victory label owner Tony Brummel signed the band in 2002. In July of that year, the band began recording their first album, Kill Your Television in Los Angeles with producer Nick Raskulinecz. Kill Your Television was released on October 22, 2002.
For most of 2003, the band extensively toured the United States and Great Britain in support of their new album. A music video was also shot for the single Television. While the album received rave reviews and was a minor commercial hit,Guitarist Derrick Sherman and Bassisit Brian Diaz left the band in the summer of 2003. Kleupfel replaced the two empty slots with Clark Foley and Adam Manning of Count The Stars. Eventually the Reunion Show disintegrated and re-surfaced as Action Action in July 2004.
