The Red Glow (Japanese: 「紅い輝き」 - Akai Kagayaki) is episode 21 of the Fullmetal Alchemist TV series originally aired 2004-02-28.
Alphonse's battle with Barry the Chopper is interrupted by the arrival of Scar who destroys the right arm of Barry's armor, but Barry manages to escape. The explosion Barry set off in order to escape releases Greed, a homunculus who has been imprisoned for 130 years. Greed acquires allies amongst the chimeras imprisoned at the Lab. Scar and Al go inside the laboratory, where they are intercepted by Lust and Gluttony. Meanwhile, Ed strikes a bargain with one of the Slicer brothers to show him the secrets of the laboratory. They meet Shou Tucker, the "Sewing-Life" alchemist, who wasn't really executed. He is now a chimera and works at the laboratory, hoping to resurrect his daughter, Nina. Tucker leads Ed to a large room with walls that consist of huge tanks of the precursor material needed to make a true Philosopher's Stone. The room is also inscribed on the floor and walls with the same transmutation circle tattooed on Scar's arm.
