The Receiving End of Sirens (abbreviated TREOS) are a post-hardcore band from Boston, Massachusetts who originally formed during 2003.

The band played on the 2005 Warped Tour. The band has toured with such acts as Gatsby's American Dream, A Wilhelm Scream, 30 Seconds To Mars, and will be supporting a few stops on the Saves the Day/Senses Fail tour.

The band's headlining tour, "The New Hope Tour", began on March 31st 2006. About a week before the start of the tour, guitarist/vocalist Alex fell down a flight of stairs and broke his collar bone. A question of whether or not he would be able to perform arose, yet he pulled through. Some bands supporting the band on their first headlining tour are As Tall as Lions, A Thorn for Every Heart, Hit the Lights, and I Am The Avalanche.

[edit] Name

According to TREOS drummer Andrew Cook, "I was a cook at a place called McCarthy’s Pub in Massachusetts. A bunch of police cars and ambulances went screaming by and the name popped in my head. Like, thinking about how people never really think what’s ‘on the receiving end of sirens,’ because its such a common thing just to hear the sirens. Especially if you live in a city, it just becomes this commonplace thing, nobody thinks twice about it anymore. Even there’s so much awful stuff going on in the world, and horrible things that happen to people, it’s kind of like ‘out of sight, out of mind.’ It’s just kind of a sad thing. So it’s kind of a commentary on that. It also works on a couple levels. It can be taken as the Greek mythology example with the Sirens that lure sailors in with their singing, so being on the receiving end of those sirens isn’t a great thing. It works both ways." [1]

[edit] History

The band formed in 2003 with vocalist Ben Potrykus at the helm. He left the band after labels became interested in signing the band. Ben often said that he would not want to be signed, since he enjoys doing music as a hobby, rather than a career. Ben has gone on to form the bands Christians and Lions and the now-defunct Sharp Teeth. Ben was later replaced by Casey Crescenzo. Casey proved to be a strong fifth member and helped bring the band to success. Yet, in May of 2006, Casey Crescenzo was kicked out of TREOS and will now pursue his new band,The Dear Hunter.

Currently, TREOS's friend Ross is filling in as a third guitarist on their tour with Circa Survive while a fifth member is sought. Cody Bonnette from As Cities Burn or Tony Little have been rumored to be the replacement for Casey. When asked on Flee The Factory, bassist Brendan Brown said, "All I can say is the Tony Little instigations aren't too far from the truth. Our new member will most certainly have long, beautiful, and flowing locks of curly blonde hair and 17" biceps to boot." The band has stated that this will be the last member change, and that the band will go their separate ways if things do not work out. The band has scheduled a tour in the uk and upon returning will work on a follow up to Between The Heart And The Synapse.

On November 6, 2006 the band announced their new permanent member as Brian Southall (formerly the drummer of Boys Night Out). He will play keyboards and guitar but he will not sing. [2]

The bands first full length album, titled Between the Heart and the Synapse was released April 26th 2005 through Triple Crown Records.
