"The Prince" is the first single by the British ska/pop band Madness. It was released on August 10, 1979 and was later featured on their debut album One Step Beyond.... It was band's only release on 2 Tone Records before they switched to Stiff. The song 11 weeks in UK chart peaking at number 16.
"The Prince" is a tribute to Jamaican ska singer Prince Buster who highly influenced Madness (band's name comes from a song by him, "Madness").
