Book One; Pocket and The Pendant is about Max Quick, a 12 year old boy who is the middle of a time freezed earth.
Max Quick came from an all boys orphanage run by Mr. Blister. Max couldn't remember his own childhood, all he knew was that he lived in the orphanage for as long as he could remember. After Max find himself meeting a mysterious old woman who somehow knew exactly who he was, moments after this time suddenly stops.
Soon Max finds out that not only he's not affected by the time freeze, but that he also has acquired some special powers. After a while in the time freeze Max begins to feel lonely and longs for company, when suddenly he hears a girl shouting in the distance.
Casey Cole, a 12 year old girl was found and rescued by Max while she was trapped in a mirror. They soon spark a friendship and are determined to find out what is going on. They soon run into a whole group of vicious children who also are not effected by this time stop. Among those kids is Ian Keating who, in a turn of events, helps Max and Casey escape from their captors and flees with them.
After escaping the hold of the group of kids they find themselves dealing with aliens and with Jadeth, the alien who created the time freeze to be able to look for a device on earth, a very special device known as the pendant hidden somewhere in time and space that would give her the ability to control the free will of all mankind.
Max suddenly remembers things that he hadn't before. Now Max remembers a mysterious man that he must find in order to learn a secret, that he has hidden form himself.
On finding the man, Max and his two new friends learn how humans came to be, that they were based off of aliens -- the same alien species as Jadeth-- Now Max must find out what his secret truly is; and protect the humans from Jadeth, who would use the pendant to subdue all humanity.
