The Pennsylvania Game
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Pennsylvania Game is a game show airing on WPSU-TV. It is hosted by Scott Bruce; the announcer is Wendell "Wendy" Williams. From its beginnings until 1996, it was hosted by Lynn Cullen.
The game is contested by a panel of three players.
[edit] Gameplay
Each round begins with announcer Williams giving some background information on the question at hand, then reading a question with four choices. After host Bruce rereads the question, each player then selects one of those answers; a correct answer is worth 1 point. If all three players pick the same answer, they win a Pennsylvania Lottery ticket immediately, whether their answer is correct or not (often punctuated by host Bruce saying, "They don't care, they just want their lottery tickets").
There are a total of 7 questions in every game. After the second, fifth, and seventh questions, host Bruce checks the scores, and also reads a clue as to the identity of a "Mystery Pennsylvanian" (a total of three clues per game). For each clue, the players write their guess as to the identity of the "Mystery Pennsylvanian." If the correct person is on all three lines on the player's card, that player scores 3 points; if the player has the correct person on two of the three lines, they score 2 points; if only one line has the correct answer, the player scores 1 point. This means that the maximum possible score is 10 points. At the end of the game, the winner (or co-winners) receive a prize usually consisting of a gift basket full of Pennsylvania-made goods, as well as $100 worth of scratch tickets.
