Oneechanbara is a popular action game in D3's Simple 2000 series for the PlayStation 2. A next-generation sequel is in the works for the Xbox 360 [1]. The series is described as sexy, stylish, and grotesque.

[edit] Gameplay

The hack and slash gameplay is reminiscent of Koei's Dynasty Warriors series, but involves the player controlling a Japanese cowgirl in a bikini who wears a scarf and wields a katana. The player is pited against hordes of shuffling zombies, which, when attacked, spill torrents of blood over the screen and the player character.

[edit] Series

Developed by Tamsoft, the Oneechan series includes several upgrades and sequels that have been released since the original game.

Released on June 26, 2005, Simple 2000 Series Vol. 80: The Oneechamploo is an upgrade to original game that included two new characters: the popular D3 Publisher idol Riho Futaba and her younger sister Makoto.

The Oneechanbara received a full sequel in Simple 2000 Series Vol. 90: The Oneechanbara 2 (released December 22, 2005), which features a new, mysterious, leather-clad female playable character.

Simple 2000 Series Vol. 101: The Oneechanpon, due for release in June of 2006, is an upgraded version of The Oneechanbara 2, and features returning characters Riho and Makoto, as well as the female warriors Kiku and Hana, the stars of Simple 2000 Series Vol. 87: The Nadeshiko.

Aya, the series' main character, has also appeared in Simple 2000 Series Vol. 91: The All*Star Kakutou Matsuri, a fighting game featuring characters from many different Simple 2000 Series releases.

An English Language release of The Oneechanbara, Simple 2000 Series Vol. 61, was released in the UK by 505 Gamestreet under the name Zombie Zone. A release of The Oneechamploo is also scheduled for European release in Q1 2007, as Zombie Hunters.

Onechanbara VorteX is due to be released for the Xbox 360 in December 2006.
