The Morning After is a song written and recorded by American glam metal band Ratt. It was released as the eighth track of their most popular album Out of the Cellar. It was co-written by Ratt guitarists Warren DeMartini and Robbin Crosby and lead singer Stephen Pearcy. It is 3:30 long. It is sometimes considered a favorite for Ratt fans for having a quick and catchy guitar riff until the vocals enter at the 0:27 mark which helped define Ratt's talented double lead guitar approach in DeMartini and Crosby.

The song explored the hedonistic culture prelavent in 1980's LA glam metal scene. The members of the band have all admitted that at this juncture of their lives, casual and sometimes even anonymous sex were the status quo.

Primary lyricist Stephen Pearcy vast body of work has an overall thematical focus of interpersonal relationships in post-modern society. The fleeting ethos of a society where the word "Love" had become merely a metaphor was at the core of what Pearcy discanted.

The vacuity was wallowed in, as if Pearcy was resigned to suffer the fate of the lonely rock star. However, Pearcy seems to argue that it was this sort of behavior seemed to be expected from him. Therefore, the song is not such a celebration of a fast life, but an expository display for the listener.

The song is lauded for its vivid description of not only the lifestyle, but the mindset of one engaged within it. Pearcy was incredibly talented in this facet. He would be compared to Izzy Stradlin, Axl Rose, Kurt Cobain, and Nikki Sixx for his ability to delineate pathological implications along with the actual description all within a single line or phrase.
