The Midas Touch or, TMT, is a California based heavy metal band formed in the summer of 2002. After a series gigs with the current line up, and the release of the now legendary demo, Coming Curses, the band quickly became one of the most notable acts in the Southern California scene, metal or otherwise. After strengthening their initial fan base in the local area, TMT moved out and rocked crowds in the greater southwestern states.

In 2006, the band will release their debut album, entitled Alone In The Light, a collection of tunes that made up the first years of playing together from the earlier rock influenced songs, to more epic and progressively structured works. Following the release, the band will hit the road and bring their highly acclaimed show to the far corners of the country, before quickly beginning work on a follow up album, due in 2007.

[edit] The Name

While trying out vocalists in 2003, Brian Ellis, a potential singer, suggested the name to go with the rock & roll sound that the band was producing at the time. Coincidentally, it holds even more significance with the music of TMT today. The myth of King Midas is lyrically influential on tracks from Alone In The Light such as "Touch Of Gold", and "Royal Pain", and will, no doubt, continue to be so in the future.

[edit] Notes

  • Live At The GC was recorded live at Guitar Center in San Marcos, CA and was the first recording made of the band. The band's young age and inexperience is very evident on this recording, the songs were all played with heavy errors and an overall lack of confidence. This was never distributed and is very rare.
  • Demolition was produced, recorded, and mixed by Paul Wheeler on a home studio system. Free copies of this demo were distributed for a short time before Coming Curses took it's place as the band's official demo.
  • Coming Curses was the bands breakthrough demo CD. Produced by Don Lithgow and recorded at DML Studios and TOG Sound. Mixed and mastered at DML Studios. Limited quantities were available for sale, usually for around $3.00. After being out for about a year, the band began giving the disk away, and eventually made it available for download online. This release was promoted heavily online, and it got TMT recognition across the country.
  • Alone In The Light, the band's independent debut, is still in post production, and is expected to be released on June 6, 2006.
