The Memory Keeper's Daughter is a New York Times Bestseller[1] by American author Kim Edwards. Published by Viking Press in June 2005, the novel gained widespread attention during the summer of 2006 after it garnered great success via word of mouth.
On a snowy night in 1964, Dr. David Henry delivers his own twins, one of whom suffers from Downs Syndrome. Upon the pretense of sparing his wife the pain of an unhealthy child, he instructs his nurse Caroline to drop his daughter off at an institution. Unable to leave her in such a forlorn place, Caroline leaves Kentucky with the baby, irrevocably changing their lives forever.
