The Macallan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Macallan is a single malt Scotch whisky, produced at a distillery called Easter Elchies House, at Craigellachie in the Speyside region. The Macallan is matured in oak sherry casks brought to the distillery from Jerez, Spain. Beginning in 2004 Macallan also introduced their Fine Oak series, with the whisky mellowed in bourbon oak casks as well as sherry ones[1]

The distillery produces a number of expressions, the most generally available being the 12-year-old, though the 18-year-old is also well known. Additionally a cask strength (non diluted) version, and expensive 25 and 30-year-old versions can also be found. The Macallan is one of the ingredients of the Famous Grouse blend.

[edit] Trivia

The Macallan is the preferred brand of Howard Stern Show writer Fred Norris, who drank it at the June 8, 2006 roast of Artie Lange. Norris was initially offered Dewar's, but described it as "piss water".
In the Japanese tokusatsu drama, Choujin Sentai Jetman, Gai Yuuki (Jetman Black Condor) drinks the Macallan.
