"The Lost Boys" (Part 1 of 2) is an episode of the science fiction television series Stargate Atlantis.
[edit] Plot
The episode starts with Sheppard's team, which is on a planet because they got a tip from Teyla's contacts. During the whole march Rodney complains about many things when the team is suddenly stunned by Wraith weapons wielded by humans. The team is then brought on another planet and wake up sitting on a table. There they are greeted by the former Lieutenant Ford.
He invites them to eat and meanwhile tells them what has happened to him after he was culled by a Wraith dart (see "Runner"): he reveals how he was rematerialized on a cruiser, how he escaped from it and then met some men in a pub. He then told them about the enzyme and they became his team and also started to take the enzyme. They even captured some Wraith which they keep stunned inside their base to get more enzymes.
Afterwards Ford tells them that he wants to show Sheppard's team how good they became thanks to the enzyme. He then reveals that he gave some enzyme into the team's meal, which especially makes Rodney angry. Sheppard then talks to Ford privately who tells him that his food was clean so that he can convince Weir that his team became better because of the enzyme. However he allows them to go around freely but when they check the Stargate they find out that Ford removed the control crystals from the DHD so they can't escape. Sheppard then decides to play along with Ford's plan.
Back at Atlantis Weir tells Major Lorne that Sheppard's team hasn't made contact so they decide to search for them. In Ford's base he orders Teyla and Sheppard to accompanying his people on an off-world mission. On the planet they find a base of the Genii from which they plan to steal weapons which the Genii once stole from Atlantis. Meanwhile another one of Ford's men, Jace, shows Rodney what they found out about the Wraith. Jace reveals that the Wraith are very territorially and that they are working on a system to prevent inter-ship communication. On another place Ford trains with his men then talks with Ronon about the enzyme.
On the off-world mission one man of the team is killed but they get the stolen Atlantis C-4. After the mission the team's leader Kanayo reveals to Sheppard and Teyla that they want to destroy a Wraith Hive-Ship. Back in the base Ford shows them a Wraith data storage device from which they got the course of a hive ship which they want to destroy. However Rodney thinks this is crazy and then Ford shows them a damaged Wraith dart which Rodney has to repair. The doctor however doesn't want to do this but Sheppard convinces him to do so that they can escape back to Atlantis. Afterwards the Lt. Col. wants from Ford some conditions and he agrees.
Lorne's team meanwhile finds out that Sheppard's team isn't on the planet anymore. Radek Zelenka then checks the DHD but they manage to get 50 gate addresses which makes it nearly impossible to find the team. Lorne then talks with Weir and tells her what they found out.
Back at Ford's base Rodney repairs the dart while Teyla and Ronon train with Ford's team and get more of the enzyme. They finally can repair the dart. Meanwhile Sheppard talks with Ford about his relatives on Earth but Ford still wants to do this mission. Afterwards he talks with Ronon and Teyla who become more aggressive because of the enzyme. Afterwards Rodney comes and reveals that the dart is ready and then shows Sheppard how it works. But then Ford reveals that he knows about Sheppard's plan to escape back to Atlantis and thus decides to let Rodney stay on the planet. Sheppard has no other option but to follow Ford's orders. He then activates the dart and collects Ford's team with the culling beam.
He then flies with the dart to the planet and from there to the hive ship. But when they approach it the auto pilot activates and the ship becomes automated. Inside the ship he rematerializes the team but a few of them fall from a cliff because Sheppard rematerialized them without seeing where. Sheppard then lands and attacks some Wraith which however triggers an alarm. Because of this they have to fight many Wraith but because there are too many they are overwhelmed and stunned.
They wake up in a cell where Ford accuses Sheppard of sabotaging his mission. Some Wraith then enter and want to know who flew the dart and when Sheppard reveals that it was him he is brought away. He is brought into a large room where he is confronted by the Queen of the ship.
[edit] Notes
- Rodney reveals in this episode that he once tried dope in college.
- It turns out that the Genii have set up bases everywhere in the galaxy to which their spies can escape if they can't make it back to the Genii homeworld.
