The Lords of the North is a novel based in 9th Century Wessex and Cornwall. The book starts where The Pale Horseman left off. It is the third book in Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Stories.
[edit] Plot summary
Uhtred of Bebbanburg makes his way back to his native Northumbria in the hopes of regaining his father's fortress. Along the way he frees the Danish king Guthred from slavery and becomes his chief warlord, before being cast into slavery himself. Finally rescued on the orders of Alfred by his friends Ragnar and Steapa, he returns to Northumbria and enacts brutal vengeance upon his enemies.
