The Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences

The Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences (LMGHS), formerly Kingsborough High School for the Sciences [1], is a four year secondary school that specializes in science, located in Brooklyn, New York. The school is a part of the New York City Department of Education.
Every year 200 students enroll. LMGHS was rated one of the best schools in the city by New York magazine.
The school was created on the campus of Kingsborough Community College and opened in 1992 by former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani and Leon M. Goldstein, the President of Kingsborough Community College for nearly 30 years. The high school overlooks Sheepshead Bay and is housed in a beautiful new building with state of the art facilities.[2]
As of September 2001, the school principal is Mr. Joseph Zaza.
The school offers special programs such as ESL, Photography, C++, Java, AP Courses, AB & BC Calculus, Chorus, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Painting, Dance, Sculpture, Advanced Art, Intel Research, and Virtual Enterprise.
