The Legend of Lucy Keyes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Legend of Lucy Keyes is a true story about a girl who went missing in 1755, after following her sisters to fetch some sand from Wachusett Lake. She vanished without a trace and both her parents died without knowing what really happened to her. As the legend tells, her mother, Martha, still haunts Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, MA to this day, calling for her lost child. Much speculation surrounds the mysterious fate of Lucy. The most common explanation of her disappearance is that a band of wandering Indians found her in the woods that day and carried her off. However, there is also evidence of a feud between Robert Keyes and his neighbor, Tilly Littlejohn, over their property lines and a death bed confession of murder from Littlejohn. A film was made in 2006 based on this story starring Julie Delpy.
