The Kwicky Koala Show

The Kwicky Koala Show was a Saturday morning cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1981 for CBS. The program is notable for being among cartoon director Tex Avery's final works (Avery died during production in 1980). The protagonist Kwicky Koala (voice of Bob Ogle, who also wrote some of the stories) is very similar to Avery's popular Droopy Dog, except that Kwicky could escape his pursuer, Wilford Wolf (John Stephenson), by teleporting. Kwicky Koala was broadcast for one season on CBS.
The program had the following supporting segments:
- The Bungle Brothers: A pair of dogs reminiscent of Avery's George and Junior sought vaudeville stardom. Michael Bell and Allan Melvin performed the voices in these short wraparounds.
- Crazy Claws: A wildcat (Jim MacGeorge impersonating Groucho Marx) used his sharp wits and equally sharp claws to evade the fur trapper Rawhide Clyde (another Ogle voice role).
- Dirty Dawg: A canine vagrant (Frank Welker impersonating Howard Cosell) sought to improve life for himself and his rodent friend, Ratso (Marshall Efron), while staying ahead of Officer Bullhorn (Matthew Faison).
