The Killers (in America) (aka Ubiitsy) is a Soviet film made in 1958 by Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky. It is based on the well known short story by Ernest Hemingway, written in 1927. It was Tarkovsky's first film, as well as the first of three shorts he made while a student at the Soviet film school VGIK.
The story was divided into three parts. The first scene with the boxer played by Vasily Shukshin was directed by Aleksandr Gordon, while Marika Beiku and Andrei Tarkovsky directed the main scene in the cafe.
