The Jewish Press bills itself as "the largest independent weekly Jewish newspaper in the United States." It was founded as a national weekly in January, 1960 by Rabbi Sholom Klass and Raphael Schreiber. The newspaper has a "Centrist"/Modern Orthodox viewpoint and editorial policy.[1]

Aaron Klein has a column that appears every week as does Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis. Other contributors have included Steven Plaut and Phyllis Chesler. The former editor was Arnold Fine, and current senior editor is Jason Maoz.
