The Island Def Jam Music Group

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Island Def Jam Music Group is a record label formed in 1999, when Universal Music Group merged its two daughters, Island Records and Def Jam Recordings to form a "super label." L.A. Reid is currently its chairman.

The Island and Def Jam imprints, meanwhile, continue to operate as their own respective labels underneath the larger IDJMG umbrella. The company also encompasses Lost Highway Records, Roadrunner Records, Tuff Gong, Stolen Transmission, Roc-A-Fella Records and the pop and rock back catalog of Mercury Records and Casablanca Records.

Some of the most popular artists and groups in Island Def Jam Music Group include Bon Jovi, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Hoobastank, Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, Rihanna and Sum 41.
